As part of the state program to promote the development of industrial crayfish farming for 2024-2026, the first agreement to build a large crab breeding complex was signed at the Ministry of Economy, between the representatives of the public and private sectors. According to the press service of the Ministry of Economy, the total investment amounted to 300 million drams, of which 50% will be provided by the state.
According to the source, the complex will be built in the village of Voghchi, Amasya community, Shirak region. The y-o-y production volume will be 18 tons of crayfish.
The agreement was signed by the Secretary General of the Ministry of Economy Haykaz Nasibyan, and by Sos Mkhitaryan, the representative of the "Karine Andranik Torosyan" individual entrepreneur.
Notably, on April 13, 2023, the government approved the Development Program for Industrial Crayfish Farming in the Republic of Armenia for 2024-2026. The goal of the program is to promote the introduction of modern technologies for the industrial cultivation of crayfish in the republic, the promotion of local production, and the creation of added value in the republic through partial compensation of investment costs. According to the project, it is planned to build 12 small, 3 medium and 3 large modern crayfish farming complexes in the republic.
