ArmInfo. (trademark VivaCell-MTS) has become the leader among telecom operators in the list of the largest taxpayers in Armenia, having risen to 8th place from 10th a year earlier.
According to the data of the State Revenue Committee of the Republic of Armenia, the company paid over 15.7 billion drams to the state treasury in 2021, of which 38.9 million drams - for customs duties, 5.3 billion drams - for direct taxes (including profit tax, income tax), over 7 billion drams - for indirect taxes (including VAT, excise tax).
UCom occupies the 13th place (as in the previous year), having paid 10.9 billion drams to the budget in terms of taxes, of which 310.1 million - for customs duties, 1.7 billion - for direct taxes (including profit tax, income tax) and 5.4 billion - for indirect taxes (including VAT, excise tax).
Telecom Armenia (former "VEON Armenia", Beeline trademark), having dropped to 20th place from 12th year earlier, paid 7.5 billion drams to the state treasury for 2021, of which 104.6 million drams - for customs duties, 1.5 billion drams- on direct taxes (including profit tax, income tax), 3.9 billion drams - on indirect taxes (including VAT, excise tax). GNC- Alpha (trademark of Rostelecom) dropped to 124th place from 121st a year earlier, having paid 1.8 billion drams to the budget in taxes, of which 13.6 million - for customs duties, 772.5 million - for direct taxes (including profit tax, income tax) and 988.3 million - for indirect taxes (including VAT, excise tax).
According to the State Revenue Committee, the four largest communication operators of Armenia paid a total of 36 billion drams to the state treasury through taxes for 2021 (with a y-o-y growth of 14%), of which 467.4 million drams - for customs duties, 9.3 billion - for direct taxes (including profit tax, income tax) and 17.5 billion - for indirect taxes (including VAT, excise tax).
It should be noted that in 2020, the four largest telecom operators paid a total of 31.6 billion drams to the state budget (with a y-o-y decline of 1.6%), of which 76.1 million drams - for customs duties, 14.9 billion - for direct taxes and 13.5 billion for indirect taxes. (The settlement exchange rate of the dram as of December 31, 2021 was 480.14 AMD/$1). On January 19, 2022, the Public Services Regulatory Commission (PSRC) of Armenia approved the sale of 100% of the shares of Philor Ventures Limited, the sole shareholder of Rostelecom Armenia (GNC-Alfa CJSC, a subsidiary of Rostelecom PJSC), to the Cypriot Molitro Holdings Limited company, founded by Russian citizen Arman Hunanyan and Electric Networks of Armenia CJSC.
