ArmInfo. It is planned to establish an Information Systems Agency in Armenia. Governor of the Central Bank of the Republic of Armenia Martin Galstyan announced on October 30 at a parliamentary committee hearing on the 2024 budget.
According to him, this project is being implemented with the joint participation of the government and the Central Bank. In the near future, a package of legislative initiatives aimed at regulating the activities of the Agency will be submitted to the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia.
Galstyan expressed hope that after the package is adopted and comes into force, the Central Bank will receive a mandate at the legislative level to finance the project. Of course, the process of financing the Agency by the Central Bank will not be too long. The agency will have a Council with the participation of a representative of the Central Bank. The Central Bank will be entrusted with the function of only facilitating the program of the RA government.
The establishment of the agency is aimed at providing a national identification system, as well as creating infrastructures to ensure the secure interaction of data and cybersecurity. It will be engaged in the development and implementation of products and technologies in the field of protecting confidential and personal information, data networks, and information security audits.
