ArmInfo.The industrial sector of Armenia in January-February 2022 increased production by 9.7% per annum (against a 7.9% decline in the same period in 2021), reaching 356.3 billion drams ($759.2 million).
The improvement in dynamics was provoked by the growth of the manufacturing industry while the mining industry was in decline. This is evidenced by the data of the RA Statistical Committee, according to which for February 2022 alone, the volumes of industrial sector increased by only 1.4% - up to 187.6 billion drams ($390.6 million).
In January-February 2022 to the same period in 2021, mining and open pit development decreased by 3.4% (against the growth of 15.9% a year earlier), providing a volume of 100.3 billion drams. At the same time, in February, a decline in volume by 8.8% was recorded - to 47.4 billion drams.
The volume of the manufacturing industry in January-February 2021 increased by 16.7% per annum (against a 15.7% decline a year earlier), exceeding 195.5 billion drams, of which 106.2 billion drams were provided in February with a monthly increase of 16.9%.
At the same time, in the manufacturing industry in January-February 2022, a decline was recorded in the production of textiles (by 7.8% per year), the chemical industry (by 13.2%) and computer, electronic and optical equipment (by 22.3%). Growth was recorded in other segments: in the production of machinery and mechanisms - 3-fold, jewelry - 2.4-fold, other non-metallic mineral products - by 87.5%, printing activities - by 60.3%, furniture - by 39, 9%, beverages - by 17.1%, electrical equipment - by 15.7%, rubber products - by 11%, basic metals - by 10.7%, clothing - by 7.5%, pharmaceuticals - by 6.1%, finished metal products - by 4.4%, and tobacco products - by 3.1%.
Food products (67.4 billion drams), basic metals (30.2 billion drams), drinks (28 billion drams), cigarettes (17.6 billion drams) are leading in the manufacturing sector in terms of production.
According to statistics, the supply of electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning in January-February 2022 compared to the same period in 2021, increased by 8.8% (against an increase of 6.5% a year earlier), amounting to 65.5 billion drams. And in February alone a decline of 23.5% was recorded - up to 32 billion drams. Moreover, the generation, transmission and distribution of electricity in January-February increased by 8.2% per annum (with a decline in February by 34.5%), while the production of gas, the distribution of gaseous fuel through gas supply systems increased by 10.5% (with a decline of 30.8% in February).
Revenues from water supply, waste treatment and processing, and secondary raw materials accelerated y-o- y growth in January-February this year to 7.4% (from 0.3% in the same period of 2021), amounting to 3.8 billion drams, and in February aloe decreased by 5.4%. Moreover, the y-o-y growth in this segment was mainly due to the collection, processing, destruction and collection of waste- by 18.4%.
The average settlement rate of the dram in January-February 2022 was 481.12 AMD/$1, and in February 2022 - 480.24 AMD/$1.
