ArmInfo. Bureau of Motor Insurers of Armenia informs that starting from September 1, 2016 when signing MTPL contract there will be no necessity to indicate the names of drivers authorized by owner to use vehicle. From now on contracts will be signed only with the owner of the vehicle.
Executive Director of the Bureau Vahan Avetisyan has stated at today's press conference that due to changes, which will come into force starting from September 1 while signing MTPL insurance contract owners of vehicles will not have to pay additional insurance payments when giving vehicle to authorized persons. At the same time Avetisyan explained that any person having driving license can use the owner's car without any letter of attorney. "Owners of vehicles should be very careful when choosing a person to give their car to, as in case of a road accident car owner will be responsible within 'bonus-malus' system", he stressed.
Avetisyan also informed that within "bonus-malus" system starting from September 1 new MTPL tariffs will come into force, envisaging no changes in price policy but only some redistribution. Thus, according to him 51% of car owners will be able to give their car to a non-limited number of drivers without any change in tariff, for 17-18% cost of MTPL contract will reduce and for 30% of car owners cost of MPTL contract will increase to up to 5%.
Avetisyan noted that at the current stage Bureau works on solving technical issues, which will allow car owners to sign MTPL contracts in online regime in the nearest future. To note, MTPL insurance was introduced in Armenia on Jan 1, 2011.
